ARC Raiders Weapon Comparison Featuring U4GM Upgrade Advice

Heavy weapons tend to expose a player's habits. Give Anvil IV to someone who waits for a clean angle and it feels brutal; hand it to a player who fires in a panic and it can feel awkward. Bettina IV is more forgiving, though it burns through ammunition and asks you to stay on target. That difference matters when you're about to spend rare materials or commit ARC Raiders BluePrints to a Tier IV upgrade. Both weapons use Heavy Ammo, but they don't solve the same problems. Anvil IV is built around precise, damaging shots and short exposure times. Bettina IV works through steady automatic fire, controlled tracking, and pressure over several seconds. For many players, Anvil is the stronger first investment, but that answer changes quickly if most of your runs involve prolonged PvE fights rather than Raider ambushes.

What Anvil IV Brings to a Fight

Anvil IV plays like a hand cannon should. You peek, fire, and move before the other player can settle their aim. Its high damage per shot makes every good angle threatening, especially when an enemy has already taken damage or is caught away from cover. At Tier IV, the improved firing feel is a big part of the appeal. Follow-up shots come more naturally, so missing once doesn't always end the exchange. It's still not a weapon for careless shooting, though. A player who rushes every shot will waste its main advantage. Anvil also makes better use of each round in your pack. Heavy Ammo isn't something most players want to spray into walls, and the weapon's strong per-shot output helps stretch a limited supply across a longer expedition. There's another practical benefit: you don't need to remain exposed for long. That's valuable in PvP, where a second Raider may already be lining up a shot while you're fighting the first.

Where Bettina IV Earns Its Place

Bettina IV takes the opposite approach. It wants you to hold an angle, track a moving target, and keep applying damage. The automatic firing mode is easier to understand if you're used to assault rifles, and the larger magazine gives you room to correct your aim halfway through a burst. Against ARC machines, that steady output can be more useful than Anvil's stop-start rhythm. You can work an armored target, shift to a weak point, then move onto a smaller enemy without breaking the flow of the fight. Bettina also fits squad play rather well. One teammate can keep an opponent pinned while another changes position or closes the gap. That sort of pressure rarely appears on a damage chart, but you'll notice it during messy encounters. The trade-off is consumption. Bettina can empty Heavy Ammo fast, particularly when you fire beyond its comfortable range or keep shooting after a target has slipped behind cover.

Match the Upgrade to Your Actual Runs

Don't choose based on the weapon you imagine yourself using. Look at the last few expeditions you played. If you spent most fights leaning from cover, waiting for a headshot, and trying to finish Raiders before their teammates arrived, Anvil IV matches what you already do. It suits aggressive PvP players, but "aggressive" doesn't mean running straight ahead. Good Anvil play is often patient for three seconds and explosive for one. Bettina IV makes more sense if you regularly clear groups of ARC enemies, fight at medium range, or dislike the punishment that comes with missing a single heavy shot. It's also a sound pick for players whose squads communicate well. Sustained fire becomes much more useful when somebody is taking advantage of it. If you mostly play alone, Anvil's quick damage and lower ammo demand will usually be easier to manage. Neither choice fixes poor positioning, of course. Tier IV gear can't save a fight taken in the open.

Spend Materials Without Stranding Your Loadout

The expensive mistake isn't choosing the "wrong" gun. It's upgrading both at once and leaving neither properly supported. Pick one heavy weapon, build enough ammunition for several runs, and keep materials aside for repairs and the rest of your kit. A Tier IV weapon paired with weak armor or an empty ammo reserve isn't much of an upgrade in practice. It's worth testing lower-tier versions before committing as well. Take each gun into the sort of content you normally play. Pay attention to how often you miss, how much Heavy Ammo comes home, and whether the weapon helps you escape bad encounters. Those details are more useful than a perfect-range damage comparison. Anvil usually wins on efficiency and sudden kill potential. Bettina is easier to keep working when targets are numerous, mobile, or too durable to drop with a couple of clean shots.

Final Thoughts

Anvil IV should be the first heavy upgrade for most players. It hits hard, conserves ammunition, and lets you deal damage without standing in sight for long. Those strengths translate well into Raider fights and still matter against armored ARC units. Bettina IV remains a worthwhile choice, not a lesser version of Anvil. Choose it when automatic fire feels more natural, PvE takes up most of your time, or your squad can turn suppression into better angles. Before spending more resources or deciding to buy ARC Items for a developing loadout, be honest about which weapon you'll actually carry. The better upgrade is the one that fits your aim, your usual range, and the way your expeditions tend to go when a clean plan falls apart.
