I burned through 1,200 dice in a tournament once because I treated every Railroad like a jackpot. The result was a mediocre leaderboard finish and no reserve for the next overlap. A good tournament run feeds several tracks at once: milestones, the live solo event, Shutdown or Heist scores, and sticker pressure. What sticker packs and cash actually change

Sticker packs matter most near set completion, not because every pack is exciting. Duplicate-heavy packs still add stars, but they rarely justify chasing a distant rank alone. Cash is also weaker than dice during a tournament; use it on landmarks when an upgrade supports your current board progression rather than spending it immediately.

How free players keep a tournament profitable

Free players get better results by treating dice as a farming budget, not ammunition. Keep a reserve for overlaps involving partner progress, pickup tokens, or a solo event with reachable dice returns. A tournament without overlap can be a light session: grab easy early milestones, finish daily board activity, then leave with resources intact.

For partner weeks, use the same mindset and calculate what dice you can afford before chasing final build pieces.
